Ask anyone in our office where they would live in Leeds and you will hear the same two names. Alwoodley and Adel sit at the northern edge of the city, in the corner of the Yorkshire Golden Triangle between Leeds, Harrogate and York.
Alwoodley is best known for its golf courses, tree-lined avenues and large detached homes. Street Lane and the area around The Avenue have a village feel, with independent shops, delis and cafés. Schools are a major draw: Alwoodley Primary and Allerton Grange are both rated highly, and Leeds Grammar School's Alwoodley Gates campus is on the doorstep.
Adel is quieter and greener still. Adel Woods, the Meanwood Valley Trail and the historic St John the Baptist church give it a semi-rural character, while the ring road puts Leeds Bradford Airport and the A1 within easy reach.
Rents reflect the demand. Family houses with four or more bedrooms typically let between £2,000 and £4,500 per calendar month, while modern apartments start from around £1,300. Properties in both areas are usually let within days of coming to market, so registering for alerts is worth doing before you start looking.
Our office is on Tarn Lane, in the middle of it all. If you would like a local's view of the streets that suit your budget, call in or book a viewing online.
